Customer is a leading global medical technologies and services conglomerate. The company offers advanced, patient-centric solutions that cater to the dynamic needs of the healthcare sector. Its focus on improving outcomes and enhancing efficiency in medical practices has earned the company recognition within the industry.
Customer was going through a divestiture from its parent company and thus had an urgent need to set up its own, completely new IT infrastructure. To achieve this, the migration of approximately 8,000 workloads from the parent company’s legacy infrastructure had to happen at an accelerated pace. On top of that, the company sought to develop a forward-looking model for managing cloud and infrastructure operations.
To avoid penalties, the business required migration to both the AWS and Azure cloud within a strict Transition Service Agreement (TSA) timeline.
Customer reviewed its options and selected Concierto, the automated cloud platform with cloud migration, management, and optimization features. The company used Concierto MIGRATE to perform extensive planning and discovery, which included move groups, wave plans, target state design, and target landing zone deployment. The software also developed detailed application discovery and assessment reports, including metrics for resource utilization, application dependencies, and performance metrics.
The company also used Concierto to monitor the performance of servers and virtual machines to determine the precise amount of cloud resources needed, allowing for the right infrastructure sizing and migration strategy recommendations.
Concierto’s detailed workload analysis and migration recommendations, which included an R-analysis, (replacement, rehosting, replatforming, refactoring, rearchitecting, rebuilding, or repurchasing), recommended rehosting and replatforming for GE Healthcare’s resources. The company followed that recommendation and used Concierto to migrate its workloads from its parent company’s legacy, on-premises environments to the AWS and Azure cloud.
Customer used Concierto to migrate over 8,000 workloads to the AWS and Azure clouds 50% faster than anticipation and with a 39% reduction in cost.
The automated server provisioning with pre-installed software, provided by Concierto reduced new client onboarding time by approximately 71%.
Overall, GE Healthcare achieved a 15% reduction in total cost of ownership by optimizing its cloud architecture and operations.
